The red pill or the blue pill?
I have had this fantasy many times, and no it’s not me going into (or getting out of) the matrix. I yearn for an easier Christianity, one where I don’t have to constantly battle it out with my flesh and Satan. My wish would simply be to choose between a red pill and a blue pill. The red pill will take away your longing for God and righteousness and give you over to sin and the lusts of this world; on the other hand the blue pill will cure all your sinful illnesses. Taking the blue pill will cause you to fall madly in love with God/Christ, you will be overwhelmed at the thought of God and how amazingly holy, loving, righteous, just, gentle, beautiful, and awesome He is (I have omitted other things that God is, not on purpose but I don’t think there is enough web space to explain how awesome and good He is).Well if I had that lovely red blue pill choice I would definitely go for . . . the blue pill. I think I would literally amputate your arm to get to that pill if you had hindered me from getting to it. Now again the question: Is this intention/ideal reflecting on my life? Am I striving to get to God willing to be “violent for the kingdom of God”? The answer again is sadly . . . no, I would not! I again thought about two specific things:
I am a Romans 7 man . . .
Romans 7:14-25 For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do, I know not. For what I desire, that I do not do; but what I hate, that I do. If then I do that which I do not desire, I consent to the law that it is good. But now it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwells in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) dwells no good thing. For to will is present with me, but how to perform that which is good I do not find. For I do not do the good that I desire; but the evil which I do not will, that I do. But if I do what I do not desire, it is no more I working it out, but sin dwelling in me. I find then a law: when I will to do the right, evil is present with me. For I delight in the Law of God according to the inward man; but I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin being in my members. O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then with the mind I myself serve the Law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.
Now weather this man is a regenerate or unregenerate man I cannot say for certain but I can say for certain that this man is in big trouble and must get to Christ and become a Romans 8 man.
I also can identify with another character but this one is not in the bible . . . Christian in the “slough of despond”:
CHRISTIAN: I cannot go as fast as I would, by reason of this burden that is on my back. Now I saw in my dream, that just as they had ended this talk, they drew nigh to a very miry slough that was in the midst of the plain: and they being heedless, did both fall suddenly into the bog. The name of the slough was Despond. Here, therefore, they wallowed for a time, being grievously bedaubed with the dirt; and Christian, because of the burden that was on his back, began to sink in the mire.
PLIABLE: Then said Pliable, Ah, neighbor Christian, where are you now?
CHRISTIAN: Truly, said Christian, I do not know.
PLIABLE: At this Pliable began to be offended, and angrily said to his fellow, Is this the happiness you have told me all this while of? If we have such ill speed at our first setting out, what may we expect between this and our journey’s end? May I get out again with my life, you shall possess the brave country alone for me. And with that he gave a desperate struggle or two, and got out of the mire on that side of the slough which was next to his own house: so away he went, and Christian saw him no more.

Wherefore Christian was left to tumble in the Slough of Despond alone; but still he endeavoured to struggle to that side of the slough that was farthest from his own house, and next to the wicket-gate; the which he did, but could not get out because of the burden that was upon his back: but I beheld in my dream, that a man came to him, whose name was Help, and asked him what he did there.
So yes, I am wallowing on and on and on about this. It seems so monotonous but it’s the only real thing I do want to write about. I know that I am in trouble and need to believe and look for God’s promises! So this blue red pill is only just a dream and by the decrees of God I know I am here to glorify Him either way!
The only pill that I need to take is the “gos-pill”.
